The Left Loses Again

The left is in the middle of a significant losing streak.  For two years, progressives have defended the honor of Robert Mueller and regularly suggested that his final report would prove Trump was guilty of colluding with Russia.  Now they are reeling in shock and horror after learning there was no truth to their delusions.

No sooner had they suffered that body blow when news broke about the arrest of Michael Avenatti.  For over a year, he enjoyed unquestioned credibility and exposure on CNN and MSNBC solely because of the media's belief that he was going to take down Donald Trump.

During one 10-week period last year, Avenatti appeared on cable TV shows nearly 150 times!  Avenatti became a champion of the Resistance, and enjoyed a second round of fame when he joined the left-wing lynch mob attempting to destroy Brett Kavanuagh

Incredibly, Avenatti was even considered to be a serious presidential candidate by many left-wing commentators.  (Here, here and here.)  CNN's Brian Stelter gushed over Avenatti's "star power" and predicted he could be a credible challenger to Trump precisely because "of [his] presence on cable news."

Since the left-wing, anti-Trump media made Michael Avenatti a celebrity, they now get to own him.

Yesterday, Avenatti was arrested and indicted by federal prosecutors in New York for attempting to extort $25 million from Nike.  At the same time, federal prosecutors in California charged him with bank fraud and embezzlement.

In the middle of all of this, let's not forget the media's widespread slander of Catholic high school boys.  None of these mistakes in judgment, lack of common sense and poor journalistic standards were caused by Donald Trump.

The liberal media are committing suicide and destroying whatever credibility they had left.

Rudy Demands An Apology

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani went on CNN yesterday and debated Chris Cuomo about his network's coverage of President Trump.  It was vintage Rudy, and he repeatedly pressed Cuomo to apologize.  Here's what he said:

"You guys on this network have tortured this man for two years with collusion and nobody has apologized for it.  Before we talk about obstruction, apologize for the overreaction of collusion. . . I'm outraged by the behavior of these networks. Collusion, collusion, collusion, collusion, collusion, collusion. No collusion, Chris.  No collusion.  Apologize!"

Kudos to Rudy for demanding an apology.  But the American people must demand much more than that.

Rep. Adam Schiff continues to say in interviews that evidence of Trump's collusion with Russia is "in plain sight."  Yet Robert Mueller and his team of Hillary Clinton lawyers, with 2,800 subpoenas and 500 witness interviews, couldn't find it.

How many times will Schiff get away with this before an interviewer asks, "Congressman, why do you continue lying to the American people?"

And kudos to the Wall Street Journal's William McGurn.  In a column today, McGurn focuses on the Obama intelligence chiefs who drove this fake narrative to the extreme, even accusing the president of being a "Russian asset" and plotting a potential coup.  McGurn writes:

"In light of Mr. Mueller's findings, there are only two ways to interpret these actions and statements from senior members of the intelligence community. The first is that they got played because they were incompetent. . .

"But there's something even worse than an intelligence community that has been played. It's an intelligence community that chose to play along simply because its members hated Donald Trump."

Trump Delivers Again

At a White House ceremony yesterday attended by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Trump signed a proclamation declaring that the United States officially recognizes Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

Once again, this president is defying "conventional wisdom" to honor our alliance with Israel and guarantee the continued security of the Jewish state.

In addition, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced today that the State Department is taking steps to ensure that the Mexico City Policy is enforced and that your hard-earned tax dollars are not used to pay for or promote abortion overseas.

"This administration has shown that we can continue to meet our critical global health goals, including providing health care for women, while refusing to subsidize the killing of unborn babies," Pompeo said.

Pence Fights Progressive Anti-Semitism

Vice President Mike Pence addressed the 2019 American Israel Public Affairs Committee Policy Conference yesterday.  This annual gathering attracts 18,000 attendees.

During his remarks, Pence zeroed in on exactly what is so disturbing about the left's criticism of Israel:  The people saying they are only against Israel's policies are also boycotting Jews.

The most logical thing for critics of Israel to do would be to go to the AIPAC conference, denounce anti-Semitism and critique whatever Israeli policies they don't like.  But that's not what they are doing.  They are embracing anti-Semitism and while also boycotting the largest annual gathering of American Jews.

Here are some excerpts of the vice president's remarks:

"Now, my friends, we've reached a fateful moment in our history.  All over the world, anti-Semitism is on the rise -- on college campuses, in the marketplace, even in the halls of Congress. . .

"Recently, a freshman [progressive] in Congress trafficked in repeated anti-Semitic tropes; alleged congressional support for Israel reflected an 'allegiance to a foreign country.'  Said that Israel had, and I quote, 'hypnotized the world.'  And she accused Americans who support Israel of being bought off by campaign contributions.  Anti-Semitism has no place in the Congress of the United States of America. . .

"As governor of Indiana, I was proud to sign the toughest anti-BDS legislation of any state in the Union.  But remarkably, today, all but one [liberal] running for president voted against the Combatting BDS Act in the United States Senate.  And as I stand before you, eight [progressive] candidates for president are actually boycotting this very conference.

"So let me be clear on this point: Anyone who aspires to the highest office in the land should not be afraid to stand with the strongest supporters of Israel in America.  It is wrong to boycott Israel, and it is wrong boycott AIPAC."

No Justice For Jussie

There was breaking news this afternoon that prosecutors have dismissed all 16 felony charges against Jussie Smollett and sealed the case.  Something stinks here.

State's Attorney Kim Foxx was forced to recuse herself after it was revealed that Tina Tchen, Michelle Obama's former chief of staff, had interfered in the case.  That led the Chicago police union to demand a federal investigation.

Now Foxx's office says that Smollett has agreed to "forfeit his [$10,000] bond to the City of Chicago," and they are letting him off the hook in view of his "volunteer service in the community."

The social justice warriors tried to pull a fast one and they may have succeeded.  But Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson and Mayor Rahm Emanuel are livid.

At a joint press conference, Johnson said justice was not served today, and he accused Smollett of hiding behind secrecy to circumvent justice rather than having his day in court to clear his name.

Emanuel called Smollett a self-promoter who proved that there was one system of justice for the powerful and influential, and another system of justice for everyone else.  He blasted today's action as a "white-wash of justice," and asked, "Where is the accountability in the system?"

So for $10,000 and community service you can fake a hate crime, accuse conservatives of bigotry, waste police time and resources, and put your community at risk of more racial violence.  And powerful people will come to your defense.

Talk about "progressive privilege."
