Obama Takes Poor Children Hostage For Transsexuals

The Obama Justice Department is attacking North Carolina, threatening to cut off all education funding because of the state's new law prohibiting men and boys from using women's restrooms. In the fevered minds of the left-wing bureaucrats at the Justice Department that commonsense notion now violates civil rights laws.

Time and again, when it came to the definition of marriage, many well-meaning conservatives ducked the debate, saying that they believed in federalism, and that such matters should be state issues.

Well, it is painfully clear that the left isn't going to let your state decide these issues. Obama and his army of government lawyers are using the full weight of the government to bully states into submission.

"Conservatives" who continue to argue that states should decide these issues are either naive or they are playing a very cynical game. The social radicals won't allow it.

From school prayer to abortion, from redefining marriage to now giving men a free pass into women's bathrooms, no one on the left is willing to accept the concept of "let the states decide."

The question for our elected representatives now is this: What are you willing to do at the federal level to stop the left at the federal level from forcing its radical social agenda on every state?

When a candidate or elected official tells you, "Every state should decide," they are really telling you, "I'm not going to fight on this issue."

Members of Congress, who don't represent Washington, D.C., but their constituents and the taxpayers in their states, should be issuing press releases condemning the administration for threatening to cut off federal education funding in North Carolina that overwhelmingly benefits poor minority children.

The first man of color in the White House has just announced that he is holding hundreds of thousands of children hostage to a fringe group of men who think they are women!

By the way, where are the minority pastors in North Carolina speaking out against this outrage?

Parents Fight Back

I am pleased to report that dozens of parents in Illinois are fighting back against this radical social agenda. We have previously reported on similar threats from the Obama Education Department against a school district in Palatine, Illinois.

The district did its best to accommodate a transgendered student, but that wasn't good enough. It fought the Education Department as long as it could, but eventually caved after the administration threatened to take away $6 million from the local schools.

Now a lawsuit on behalf of 51 families has been filed against the school district and two federal agencies.

The parents allege that their daughters are afraid of seeing a "male in a state of undress" and "are afraid of being seen by, and being forced to share intimate spaces with, a male while they are in various states of undress." Here's more:

"Every day these girls go to school, they experience embarrassment, humiliation, anxiety, fear, apprehension, stress, degradation and loss of dignity because they will have to use the locker room and restroom with a biological male."

One furious father, whose daughter was changing in the girls' locker room when the transgendered boy walked in on her, told reporters yesterday, "It is not up to the school district to determine the time our daughters encounter a member of the opposite sex while in a state of undress, but with this reckless policy that is exactly what happened."

Again, I have to ask, where are our leaders in Congress? They should be issuing press releases and letters to the editor daily. There should be hearings on this issue every week.

The secretary of education should be subpoenaed to testify before Congress, and forced to explain this bizarre policy to the American taxpayers. There should be votes in the House and the Senate to cut the department's budget, and rescind its authority over bathroom policies.

Day Of Prayer

Today is the National Day of Prayer. This year's theme is "Wake Up America," based on the verse in Isaiah 58:1: "Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet."

This year's Honorary Chairman is Dr. Tony Evans. You can read his compelling prayer for our nation here.

Prayer events are being held today in Washington, D.C., and around the country. Once again, my friend Shirley Dobson did an excellent job making today's ceremony on Capitol Hill one of the highlights of the year.

Shirley had a special announcement today: She is stepping down as chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, and will be succeeded by Mrs. Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of Reverend Billy Graham.
