Bauer Says, “Stop Subsidizing Terrorist States.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Former Presidential candidate Gary Bauer on Thursday called on President Bush and members of Congress to immediately end foreign aid to the Palestinian government, following the election victory of Hamas. The president of American Values made the following statement: “Today, I am reminded of a past election that ushered in a democratically elected government with a similar ideology of hatred and anti-Semitism. The world paid a terrible price for negotiating with Adolf Hitler. We must not make the same mistake again. America cannot negotiate with Hamas. “The results of this election are shocking, but predictable. In his press conference today, President Bush commented that democracy and elections ‘provide a look into society.’ The Palestinian people have been immersed in a culture of death for decades, so it is no surprise that they have formally given power to the party of death. “Hamas is on our list of terrorist organizations and it has sworn itself to the destruction of Israel. American taxpayers should not be forced to subsidize the corruption of the Palestinian government any longer. This is not a hard call. “Moreover, the pressure on Israel to make concession after concession in pursuit of a two-state solution must cease. The American people understand why we have sacrificed so much to take out two terrorist states in Iraq and Afghanistan. They will not understand why we are pressuring an ally to give up land to create another terrorist state supported by Iran. “Today the free world must choose. Will we follow the path of appeasement and sacrifice another ally in the pursuit of peace in our time or will we stand together, united in defense of our shared values? I will do everything I can to make sure America stands firmly with Israel, not only for the peace of Jerusalem, but for the peace of the entire world.”
