The Real Conspiracy

The Mueller report is in.  There was no conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia.  But there was a real conspiracy, and there has been a cover up of an attempted coup by the deep state.

Multiple Obama officials, with the help of Hillary Clinton's campaign, attempted to delegitimize and potentially reverse the election of Donald Trump.  We have yet to get to the bottom of who is responsible for this "Watergate on steroids" and bring them to justice.

I don't know what Attorney General Barr thinks, but I suspect he has no qualms when it comes to testifying before Congress about the decisions he has made.  If Reps. Nadler and Schiff think they are going to get the best of Bill Barr and somehow reverse the conclusions of the Mueller investigation, they are in for a second round of disappointment.

Meanwhile, the left had better brace itself.  We're still waiting for Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz to release the findings of a second report on the FBI's abuse of FISA warrants and its spying on the Trump campaign.

The Mueller report is a welcome victory for President Trump.  But this is far from over.  Progressives are still in denial and doubling down on the issue of obstruction of justice.

But we cannot rest until Brennan, Clapper, Comey, Lynch, McCabe, Ohr, Simpson, Strzok and others are held accountable for their role in this sad episode.  Thankfully, Senator Lindsey Graham, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, today vowed to do just that.

At a press conference today, Sen. Graham told reporters:

"What makes no sense to me is that all of the abuse by the Department of Justice and the FBI, the unprofessional conduct, the shady behavior — nobody seems to think that's much important.  Well, that's gonna change."

Referring to the abuse of the FISA warrant process, Graham said, "Was it a ruse to get into the Trump campaign? I don't know but I'm going to try to find out."

Schiff Unrepentant

One revelation from the release of the Mueller report is that the biggest liar in Washington may well be House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA).  Over the last two years, he has repeatedly insisted that he had in his possession voluminous evidence of collusion between President Trump and Russia.  And he is refusing to change his tune.

Just yesterday, even as news was breaking that Mueller would issue no more indictments, Schiff told ABC's George Stephanopoulos, "There is significant evidence of collusion" with Russia.

How does he know that?  How can he claim to know what Mueller and the Senate Intelligence Committee could not find?  If Schiff had such evidence, all he had to do was give it to Robert Mueller.

One can only conclude that Schiff has no information and that he knowingly lied to his constituents and the American people at a level that is extraordinary even by Washington's standards.

Speaking on Fox & Friends this morning, Kellyanne Conway called on Adam Schiff to resign, saying:

"He has no right as somebody who has been peddling a lie day after day after day unchallenged. Unchallenged and not under oath. Somebody should have put him under oath and say, 'You have evidence, where is it?'

"He ought to resign today.  He's been on every TV show 50 times a day for practically the last two years, promising Americans that this president would either be impeached or indicted."

The Delusional Left

Watch this montage of left-wing pundits and politicians predicting Trump's demise.

"This is treason," they said.

"The noose is tightening," they said.

"Trump's going to jail," they said.

All of it was wishful thinking at best and lies at worst.  We know Putin meddled in our election to sow division and chaos.  He succeeded beyond his wildest dreams because the left and its media allies were willing accomplices and useful idiots for America's enemies.

According to our friends at the Media Research Center, the big three networks -- ABC, CBS and NBC -- devoted nearly 2,300 minutes of coverage to this political hate hoax, "an average of roughly three minutes a night, every night, for an astonishing 791 days."

As The Daily Caller noted, the Washington Post and the New York Times won prestigious journalism awards for their coverage "of something that, according to Mueller's report, did not exist."

I am pleased to report that one serious journalist is apologizing.  Investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson writes:

"We in the media allowed unproven charges and false accusations to dominate the news landscape for more than two years, in a way that was wildly unbalanced and disproportionate to the evidence.

"We did a poor job of tracking down leaks of false information. . .  As such, we reported a tremendous amount of false information, always to Trump's detriment. . . So, a round of apologies seem in order."

Just to be clear, Attkisson was not part of the left-wing media cabal trying to sabotage the Trump presidency.  There is considerable sarcasm in her remarks.  She also goes on to demand accountability from those in government and in the media who are responsible for this two-year nightmare.

But I won't hold my breath waiting for more mea culpas from CNN, MSNBC, the Washington Post, etc., etc.

Blaming The Founders

I'm not sure how, but in recent weeks multiple liberals seemed to be preparing people for the possibility that the Mueller report might be a dud.  Nancy Pelosi infuriated many progressives when she backed away from impeachment.

But I also noticed that around the same time, some on the left (here and here) started blaming the Electoral College for Hillary Clinton's defeat.  In other words, it wasn't Putin's fault.  It was James Madison's fault and George Washington's fault.  Now that's desperation!
