Farm Bill Defeated In House

Yesterday the House of Representatives voted down a $940 billion farm bill. The House leadership faced a revolt from both sides of the aisle. Conservative Republicans were angry over too much spending on subsidies, and liberal Democrats were upset over how much was cut from food stamps.

Amnesty Insanity

There is news today of an agreement that will improve the border security aspects of the Senate's quasi-amnesty bill. The deal supposedly involves doubling the Border Patrol by adding 20,000 new agents, hundreds of miles of border fencing and surveillance drones to track illegal immigrants attempting to cross the border.

We will provide more details as we have them, but I'm skeptical. Security has been promised repeatedly for thirty years. It hasn't been done.

Public Strongly Opposes Obama's Syrian Intervention

Last week the White House announced that it would begin providing weapons and military aid to the Syrian rebels fighting the regime of President Bashar al-Assad. The conundrum for U.S. policy makers is that many of the rebels are Al Qaeda extremists.

A Summer Of Discontent?

According to the latest CNN poll, President Obama's approval rating has fallen eight points in the past month. Forty-five percent of the country approves of Obama's job performance, while 54% disapproves. Last month the numbers were essentially reversed with 54% approving and 45% disapproving. And it's hard to find much good news for the president based on this survey. For example:

Defending Faith, Family & Freedom

Today I had the pleasure of speaking to conservative activists at the Faith & Freedom Coalition's annual conference here in Washington, D.C. The Faith & Freedom Coalition, led by Ralph Reed, is a dedicated ally in the battle to defend our values.

Snowden: Hero Or Zero?

NSA leaker Edward Snowden is answering that headline question on his own. And the answer is less than zero -- he is, broadly speaking, a traitor. Whatever comfort can be taken from Snowden's exposure of the Obama Administration's overreaching data collection efforts on law-abiding Americans is negated by what he is "exposing" now.

Summer Of Scandals

Each new day seems to bring to light a new scandal. CBS News reported yesterday that a State Department whistleblower has come forward with shocking allegations of drug use, prostitution and even pedophilia among top Obama Administration officials serving our country overseas.

Who is Edward Snowden?

We now know something about the source of national security leaks that have bedeviled the Obama Administration in recent days. Even if you are a conservative happy to see the White House struggling with scandals, Snowden does not appear to be any conservative's hero.

First he chooses to flee to Hong Kong, which is controlled by China. If your primary concern is the violation of individual human rights, why run into the belly of the beast?

Big Brother Barack

It's a new day in Washington and there are stunning new developments making headlines. Newspapers on both sides of the Atlantic broke a story by the left-wing British paper the Guardian that the Obama Administration is not only seizing the phone records of journalists, but of millions of other Americans too.
