NYC vs. History
New York City is confronting an illegal migrant crisis. Mayor Eric Adams has not minced words. He is warning that the 20,000 illegal aliens pouring into his city every month will “destroy” his city.
Adams estimates that it will cost taxpayers $12 billion over the next two years to pay for people who shouldn’t be there, and may force the city to cut its budget by 15%.
So, what is the New York City Council doing in the middle of this crisis?
It held an urgent session yesterday to discuss tearing down any historical statue or monument in any way connected to people who owned slaves or benefitted from slavery over the course of our nation’s history.
Sadly, this isn’t new.
The city infamously removed a statue of Teddy Roosevelt from the front of the Natural History Museum because some felt the statue was demeaning to indigenous people. Roosevelt’s father, by the way, was one of the founders of New York’s Natural History Museum.
Bill de Blasio, the previous Marxist mayor who honeymooned in communist Cuba, removed a statue of Thomas Jefferson from City Hall.
Now they are going after George Washington, who liberated occupied New York City from the British. Washington said farewell to his troops at Fraunces Tavern, which you can still visit in New York City today.
Donald Trump predicted all this when the left started tearing down statues of Robert E. Lee. He said, “This week, it’s Robert E. Lee. . . I wonder, is George Washington next week, and is it Thomas Jefferson the week after? You really do have to ask yourself: ‘Where does it stop?’”
Trump was mocked at the time, even by some Republicans. Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi seemingly defended the attacks on historical monuments, saying, “People will do what they do.” Wow! What a pathetic “defense” of America.
As I have noted before, the destruction of historic monuments was the final act of the left’s war on the founding of America. The first act in that war has been taking place in our classrooms for years as neo-Marxist indoctrinators demonized our founding fathers and erased from the hearts of our children their love of country.
The mobs we saw tearing down statues and historic monuments were created years ago in the classrooms of America. They were acting out what they were taught.
Every conservative elected official at every level of office and every pastor should be hammering the neo-Marxist left’s culture war against America and normalcy EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
Twenty-two years ago, Osama bin Laden and his Islamic supremacist barbarians flew hijacked planes into iconic American buildings. We built new buildings and destroyed Al Qaeda.
These homegrown neo-Marxist barbarians are driving bulldozers through the remembrances of America’s heroes. It will be a lot harder to reclaim this ground and save America.
Biden’s Climate Hysteria
President Joe Biden addressed the United Nations General Assembly yesterday. He covered several issues in his remarks, but the main one the White House chose to highlight was climate change.
Biden specifically called on global leaders to “climate-proof” the earth. Really? What does that even mean? And how much is it going to cost?
I’m pretty sure God is in charge of the world’s climate -- Joe Biden is not God, although he may soon claim he was an “adviser” to God at the Creation.
Remember when Barack Obama said he was going to stop the rise of the ocean and heal the planet? What happened? At the time many people thought he was confusing himself with God, too.
The hubris of the left is incredible, and matched only by its idiocy. Why do people continue to buy into this hysteria?
By the way, have you noticed that gas prices are rising again? There are a number of reasons for that, including Biden’s green agenda, which is a huge boon to communist China!
Aside from climate change, Ukraine was the other main focus of Biden’s UN remarks. Yet again, Biden vowed to defend Ukraine’s “sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
What about the sovereignty of our nation?!
What about the territorial integrity of our borders?!
I don’t understand politicians who think we should spend “whatever it takes” to secure Ukraine’s borders without spending a dime to secure our borders. The response from some of our Republican friends is that we can do both at once.
Well, clearly, we can’t. We aren’t!
The “govern the world” crowd in the GOP is more committed to securing the borders of far-off nations while the neo-Marxist left is even more committed to not securing the borders of the United States!
Trump’s Abortion Fumble
There’s a lot of disappointment over the way Donald Trump handled a discussion of the abortion issue over the weekend. We have let former President Trump know how we felt about the way he framed the issue.
Read this important statement Trump posted yesterday on Truth Social:
“I was able to do something that nobody thought was possible, end Roe v. Wade. For 52 years, people talked . . . but couldn’t get the job done. I got the job done! Thanks to the three great Supreme Court Justices I appointed, this issue has been returned to the States. . . Now the Pro-Life Community has TREMENDOUS NEGOTIATING POWER.
“Like Ronald Reagan before me, I believe in the three exceptions for Rape, Incest, and the Life of the Mother. Without the exceptions . . . we would probably lose the Majorities in 2024, and perhaps the Presidency itself, but you must follow your HEART! [Conservatives] must learn how to talk about Abortion. This issue cost [pro-life candidates] unnecessarily, but dearly, in the Midterms.
“We have to expose the [progressives] . . . as being the true Radicals on the Abortion issue, in that they allow the killing of babies in the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th months, and even after birth.
“But it was OK to ‘rip the baby out of the womb’ under Roe v. Wade, and destroy a living soul. Now, with Roe v. Wade no longer, the power to negotiate is with the Pro-Life Movement, not the Radical Left [progressives] who are so willing to destroy Life!”
To reinforce Trump’s view, Joe Biden copied a previous statement from Trump and sent it out all over the country, adding this comment: “Let’s be clear: Donald Trump is responsible for ending Roe v. Wade. And if you vote for him, he’ll go even further.”
Now, here’s some context.
Most of us, myself included, strongly believe that all of our children deserve to be welcomed into the world and should be protected by our laws and founding documents. I don’t want one abortion, period. That is not, unfortunately, where the American people are.
Now that Trump got Roe overturned, people who don’t want all abortions to be banned appear to be voting in unusual numbers, resulting in conservatives losing multiple key races in recent months in a wide range of states, even in conservative pro-life states. Meanwhile, really bad pro-abortion ballot initiatives have been passed, and more will be on the ballot next year.
We want no abortions. The radical lefts want abortions during all nine months of pregnancy and even afterwards.
If conservatives can successfully expose the left’s abortion on demand, up to birth extremism, we beat them.
If the pro-abortion left can label pro-life candidates as “extremists who want to ban every abortion,” they win.
The American people are somewhere in the middle, generally favoring laws that protect pre-born babies around 15 weeks.
Trump is trying to thread that needle, and progressives are terrified he may succeed.
One final comment: I am extremely pleased that the Florida legislature passed a heartbeat bill and that Gov. Ron DeSantis signed it. That’s what can be done when you have supermajorities in a legislature.
In the meantime, we will continue to work with Donald Trump, other presidential candidates, elected officials and grassroots activists to effectively articulate the pro-life position.
