Biden’s Border Standoff

Joe Biden is allowing an invasion of the United States. It’s undeniable. Illegal immigration has broken records every year of his presidency, and the ONLY thing he has done is make the problem even worse.

In fact, some conservative pundits are, appropriately in my view, referring to the border crisis as “Biden’s insurrection against America.”

But as illegal aliens take over major airports, hotels, public schools and local hospitals, his open borders policy is now hurting him in the polls.

So, Democrats are scrambling to look like they’re doing something. (See below.) But Biden has no interest in actually securing the border. That’s clear from the past three years.

Thank God Governor Greg Abbott of Texas has decided that enough is enough.

He put up special security wire along the border and deployed the Texas National Guard to secure areas where illegal entries into our country are out of control. Texas law enforcement officials were also empowered to start arresting illegal aliens.

That bold action infuriated Biden. He ran to the Supreme Court to get an emergency order telling Governor Abbott to remove the border wire. In other words, Joe Biden is demanding that Texas must have open borders!

As of this writing, Gov. Abbott is refusing to back down. (By the way, Joe Biden has routinely ignored Supreme Court decisions, whether it’s forgiving student loan debt or doubling down on abortion after Roe v. Wade was overturned.)

Yesterday, Abbott issued an extraordinary statement declaring that Joe Biden’s administration “has broken the compact between the United States and the States.”

Abbott wrote that he also took an oath to uphold the Constitution, and the Constitution, under Article 1, Section 10, Clause 3, acknowledges that states have an obligation to stop invasions. Abbott also ordered state officials to put up more security wire.

The Biden administration has told Texas officials to stand down by tomorrow or else. Several Democrats are demanding that Biden federalize the Texas National Guard. We will have to wait and see what happens.

In the meantime, multiple Republican governors and Speaker Mike Johnson are stepping up and standing with Texas. There are also unconfirmed reports of a trucker convoy forming in California that intends to drive to the Texas border, picking up more vehicles along the way.

For years, I’ve been asking why border state governors don’t get together and declare, “We’re securing the border to protect the American people.” Will Biden send federal troops to Texas to attack fellow Americans for defending our country? Maybe that’s why he’s threatening Americans yet again with F-16s.

That’s what he ought to be saying to the illegal aliens we know nothing about who are violating our sovereignty. We have the world’s most powerful military, and we ought to use it to secure our own borders first!

Senate Conservatives Fight Back

Earlier this week, we told you about a so-called “border security deal” that was being negotiated in secret between some Senate Republicans, Chuck Schumer and the Biden White House. All the reports about the details of this deal indicate that it is a total disaster. No wonder it is being done behind closed doors.

I am pleased to report that several Senate conservatives forcefully pushed back yesterday against this outrageous “cave-in.”

But before he tore into this terrible deal, Senator Ted Cruz effectively framed the entire immigration debate, highlighting a number of issues I raised in my latest column. Here’s an excerpt of his remarks:

“The Biden border crisis is an absolute humanitarian disaster and Democrats don’t care. Last year, 853 migrants died crossing illegally into this country. And Alejandro Mayorkas didn’t even know how many had died because he didn’t care.

“When I brought 19 senators down to the border, we saw a man who had drowned floating in the Rio Grande. Democrats don’t care. Last year, thousands upon thousands of children were brutalized and sexually assaulted by human traffickers, and Democrats don’t care.

“Last year, thousands of women were sexually assaulted by human traffickers, and Democrats do not give a damn. Last year, more than 100,000 Americans died of drug overdoses from Chinese fentanyl flooding across the southern border, and Democrats do not give a damn. . .

“If they cared, they would stop it. If you cared about the children being raped at the border, you would say, ‘No more!’

“When Joe Biden came in, we had the lowest rate of illegal immigration in 45 years. He inherited success, and he deliberately broke it. Democrats want these open borders.”

Your Feedback

Yesterday, I asked for your feedback on the state of the GOP presidential primary, and we got an avalanche of responses! My staff spent hours this morning tallying up the results. Of course, not everyone answered every question, but here’s a summary of the feedback we received:

  • 85% said Nikki Haley should drop out now.
  • Only 55% indicated that they would vote for Haley if she won the GOP nomination.
  • 35% said they would not vote for Haley in November.
  • 97% said they would vote for Donald Trump if he wins the GOP nomination.

While it’s certainly logical that most voters would fall in line and back the eventual nominee, the degree of opposition to Haley was somewhat surprising. But I think I understand where it is coming from.

In recent days, Haley and her surrogates, like New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, have already started carrying water for the left and parroting Nancy Pelosi by questioning Trump’s mental acuity. It’s absurd.

And what are they really trying to achieve? Is Haley just positioning herself for 2028? Or is this part of the establishment effort to defeat the most effective populist Republican since Ronald Reagan?

Most people have forgotten, but I still remember how bitterly the establishment fought Ronald Reagan, precisely because he was a populist conservative. After he finally won the Republican nomination, they tried to impose a co-presidency on him with establishment Republican Gerald Ford.

And when that failed, they propped up an independent third-party campaign by a Republican congressman from Illinois, hoping that would cause Reagan to lose.

Think about that. The GOP establishment did everything it could to stop the most popular conservative president in modern memory. Just imagine if they had succeeded in reelecting Jimmy Carter!

More Swamp Meddling

If anyone has any doubt that well-heeled globalist Republicans are trying to maintain their control over the old, failed GOP, look no further than what was just exposed in Arizona.

The chairman of the Arizona Republican Party just resigned because he was caught on tape telling populist conservative Kari Lake that “big money back east” was willing to bribe her to get her out of the Senate race.

Who could that be? Some speculate it was Paul Ryan, who now sits on Wall Street corporate boards.

Lake was indignant, responding, “This is not about money. This is about our country. I think it’s disturbing. I am not going to let these people who hate our country tell me not to run.”

Good for her!

We should demand to know who these “big money people back east” are who tried to bribe her. Tell us who they are!

In this week’s “Defending Faith, Family and Freedom” podcast for the James Dobson Family Institute, I reflect on the 2024 March for Life and this tremendous movement that has fought for decades to uphold the sanctity of life.
