Congratulations, Clarence!

 

Thirty years ago today, the Senate voted 52-to-48 to confirm my good friend Clarence Thomas as an associate justice of the Supreme Court. That was the culmination of a long and brutal confirmation battle, instigated by Anita Hill and not-so-nice guy Joe Biden, who was chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee at the time. I was proud to be right in the center of the battle as the founder and chairman of the Citizens Committee to Confirm Clarence Thomas. It was an epic battle!

 

Biden and his left-wing goons thought they could successfully smear and ruin Thomas, just as they had done to Robert Bork a few years earlier. But Clarence Thomas was a lot tougher than the left bargained for. They were not prepared for Clarence's brilliant counterattack. 

 

As the Senate Judiciary Committee convened on October 11, 1991 to hear Thomas's rebuttal to Hill's slanderous accusations, Thomas opened up with both barrels right from the beginning. He told the committee and the American people:

 

"I think this day is a travesty. I think it is disgusting. I think this hearing should never occur in America. . . The Supreme Court is not worth it. No job is worth it. I'm not here for that. I'm here for my name, my family, my life and my integrity. I think something is dreadfully wrong . . . when any person, any person in this free country would be subjected to this. . .

 

"This is a circus. It's a national disgrace. And from my standpoint as a black American . . . it is a high-tech lynching for uppity blacks who in any way deign to think for themselves. . . And it is a message that unless you kowtow to an old order, this is what will happen to you."

 

As we saw with Brett Kavanaugh and now with concerned parents at school board meetings, the left's tactics never change. Smearing their opponents and shutting down debate is what the left does best.

 

Justice Thomas overcame the leftist haters and has now built a 30-year legacy of upholding our Constitution.

 

Congratulations, Clarence, on 30 excellent years! Here's to many more!

 

 

 

Another D.C. Insurrection?

 

There was another riot in D.C. yesterday, but you probably didn’t hear much about it. Want to guess why it didn’t make much news? The insurrectionists were far, far-left climate “activists,” as the Washington Post called them, who stormed the Interior Department and clashed with police.

 

Guards and security personnel sustained multiple injuries, some of which resulted in hospitalization. The leftists intended to “occupy” the Interior Department and attacked police lines blocking their way. Some of them had to be “tased” by police. 

 

No word yet on whether Nancy Pelosi will set up a special commission to investigate this blatant attack on our democracy and who was behind it. 

 

 

 

Boycott The "Genocide Olympics"

 

Ever wonder what the Olympic symbol of five interlocking rings represents? They represent the union of five continents -- North America and South America, Africa, Asia, Australia and Europe. The games are supposed to be about sportsmanship, athletic triumphs and global cooperation, and nations compete for the honor of hosting the Olympic Games.

 

Sadly, the 2022 Winter Games will be held in Beijing, China. But the communist Chinese regime does not deserve that honor.

 

 

It would be outrageous and even dangerous for America and the rest of the world to send their best athletes to Beijing in 2022. In fact, there is evidence suggesting that communist China used a major international athletic competition, held in Wuhan in October of 2019, to seed the world with COVID. 

 

Moreover, President Xi Jinping plans to use the 2022 Olympics to herald a new "China-led world order," just as Adolf Hitler used the 1936 Olympic Games to show off his new Reich. It would be a mistake of epic proportions to reward such delusions and aggression.

 

American corporations like Airbnb, Coca-Cola, Intel, Procter and Gamble and VISA should put basic decency and human rights above profits and drop their sponsorship of the 2022 Olympic Games. 

 

 

 

Couric Censored The News

 

Media bias is more than just how the fake news spins the facts. It often involves what they won't tell you. 

 

For example, former Today host and media darling Katie Couric has a new memoir coming out later this month. It's reportedly full of juicy tidbits. But what really jumped out at me was what Couric chose to leave out of an interview she did with Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. 

 

The interview ran five years ago this month, right before the 2016 election between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Couric asked Ginsburg what she thought about one of the most high-profile controversies of the time – Colin Kaepernick's kneeling protests during the national anthem. 

 

Of course, Donald Trump was making the protests a big issue, telling the NFL to fire anti-American players. I'm sure Couric thought this was an easy question that Ginsburg would use to bash Trump and praise Kaepernick. 

 

Instead, Ginsburg called the protests by "arrogant" athletes "dumb and disrespectful."

 

Ginsburg had more to say about anthem protests, but Couric cut her remarks from the interview. She told colleagues she was conflicted about the justice's comments and wanted to protect her from the public backlash. 

 

What exactly did the "notorious RBG" say that was so outrageous? Ginsburg said the anthem protests demonstrated "contempt for a government that has made it possible for their parents and grandparents to live a decent life. . . And that's why education is important." 

 

Well, the only backlash to those remarks would have come from the radical left. 

 

It was bad enough that Ginsburg disapproved of Kaepernick. But there was no way Couric could let such an icon of the left be seen making Donald Trump's point about the greatness of America.

  • At least 11 state school board associations are publicly disavowing the letter by the National Association of School Boards to Attorney General Merrick Garland suggesting that parents should be prosecuted as "domestic terrorists."

 

  • Several school districts around the country are pushing back against left-wing politics in classrooms by banning BLM and gay pride flags. 

 

  • Americans have had it with Dr. Fauci. A majority of likely voters, 54%, now say Dr. Fauci has "lost all credibility."

  • Republicans won a special election for an Iowa state House seat that Democrats have held for decades.
