A Sad Observation

I apologize for missing the fact that yesterday marked the 60th anniversary of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic speech at the Lincoln Memorial. This is a late but important observation about that anniversary, which got very little attention.

On August 28, 1963, Reverend King addressed a massive crowd of 250,000 Americans and delivered his famous “I Have A Dream” speech. But four years and seven months later, King was assassinated.

Had King lived, his Christian message of racial reconciliation would have been a balm for the country. Here are some excerpts of his powerful address:

“So even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream.  It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.  I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal. . .

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today. . .

“This will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with new meaning: My country, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrims' pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring. . .

“And when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, Black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual: Free at last. Free at last.  Thank God almighty, we are free at last.”

You’ll note in these passages that King did not attack America or our Founding Fathers. He embraced America and our founding documents.

But if James Earl Ray killed Martin Luther King’s body, the woke neo-Marxist left killed King’s dream.

If you say today that you believe in judging people based on the content of their character, the left will call you a bigot. If you say you believe in King’s dream of a colorblind society, the left will call you a white supremacist. (Here and here.)

The left insists that everything must always be about race. The neo-Marxist left is obsessed with dividing the country along racial lines, obsessed with fanning racial tensions at every opportunity.

There is precious little evidence that the billions of dollars spent by the race-obsessed “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” industry are reducing racial tensions in America.

Martin Luther King Jr. is significantly less of an icon among the today’s left because he rejected racism of any kind. The left also doesn’t like his Christianity, his message of racial reconciliation, and it really doesn’t like his embrace of our founding documents and America itself, which the left deems “systemically racist,” “deplorably irredeemable” and in need of “fundamental transformation.”

Today’s left rejects Martin Luther King’s teaching and has turned his dream into a nightmare.

Back To Biden

There’s been a lot of media attention focused on the former president in recent days, whether it’s his arrest and mug shot at a Georgia jail or the announcement of a federal trial date by a biased left-wing judge. But we should be more concerned with the corruption of the president who currently occupies the Oval Office.

Professor Jonathan Turley, an expert in constitutional law, recently made the case for why a full impeachment inquiry into the Biden crime family is necessary at this point. Speaker Kevin McCarthy seems to be moving in that direction, albeit very slowly.

Here’s the latest evidence pointing to likely corruption.

As you may recall, we recently reported that House investigators had discovered that Joe Biden used multiple aliases while serving as vice president in the Obama White House when he communicated with his son, Hunter.

Now there are reports that the National Archives has identified more than 5,000 messages related to those Biden aliases.

Of course, the National Archives is stonewalling investigators. It took a lawsuit to force the bureaucrats to identify just how many Biden alias emails it had.

When they finally have time to sort through them, I’m sure they will tell us that most were just about the weather. After all, that’s what progressives insisted Biden was discussing on those call-ins with Hunter’s business associates.

And if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you!

2024 Update

An Associated Press poll released yesterday has some bad news for Joe Biden. Seventy-seven percent of Americans believe Biden will be “too old to govern effectively” in a second term, and a solid majority of those polled had nothing nice to say about Biden.

When asked for the first word that came to their minds when thinking about Joe Biden, 54% of Americans said something like“Old,” “Senile,” “Dementia,” “Slow,” “Confused,” “Bumbling,” “Terrible,” “Disappointing” or “Joke.”

Meanwhile, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez became the first GOP candidate to officially drop out of the 2024 race.

A Father’s Fury

Darin Hoover’s son, Staff Sgt. Darin Taylor Hoover Jr., was killed two years ago when a jihadist attacked at the airport in Kabul, Afghanistan.

In the days and months since that horrible atrocity claimed the life of his son and a dozen other American heroes, Darin Hoover has been increasingly frustrated by the lack of transparency and accountability from the Biden White House and the Pentagon.

In a recent interview with NewsNation, Hoover revealed that U.S. officials had multiple chances to eliminate the jihadist who carried out the deadly attack. But they failed. Here’s what he said:

“We’re finding out all of these different tidbits of information, and it’s coming out in a slow, drip, drip kind of way, and it’s infuriating, frankly, that they actually had three opportunities to take out that bomber or the cell that was working on it, and didn’t take the opportunity to do it.

“We’ve got 45 [of our military personnel] injured and, obviously, our 13 that were killed. And this kind of stuff can’t continue to happen. Going from war to war to war . . . and this is the best that we could do, this is the best that we could come up with?”

Mr. Hoover is demanding to know why in the final instance a sniper at an airport watchtower, who had the bomber in his sights, was denied permission to open fire. Who made that decision and why? That’s something all Americans deserve to know.

The Fear Mongering Left

I’m sure you’ve noticed there is a building COVID panic emerging across the country.  Biden announced that he’s going to Congress to get money for yet another vaccine

Some places, even after everything we’ve learned, are bringing back mask mandates.  Sadly, my home state of Kentucky is already closing schools again.

Meanwhile, there’s a new study suggesting that the best masks, N-95s, contain high levels of dangerous chemicals due to their packaging. The result is that when you put those masks on, you’re getting as much as eight times the recommended safety limit of certain toxic compounds.

I mentioned last week that the new variant is called Eris, who was the Greek god of discord. If they’re looking for a more relevant or modern name, they could call it, “The Election Variant.”
